HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
Citizen Care is committed to maintaining and protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all persons supported under the direction of the Health Information Management Department.
- Protecting Client Health Information:
The health information management department restricts the release and/or disclosure of our persons supported protected health information by maintaining compliance with the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Pennsylvania Mental Health Procedures Acts. - Electronic Client Record:
Citizen Care utilizes computer technology to document and store protected health information in an electronic client record system. The system provides access to service providers who coordinate the treatment of persons supported involved in a variety of programs. The system also incorporates a client record inventory that allows us to track paper documents. - Authorization to Release Health Information:
Citizen Care responds to questions from persons supported and requests for release of information according to the HIPAA privacy and Mental Health regulations. - Quality Assurance:
Compliance audits are conducted concurrently and post-discharge to assure that state mental health and federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations are being followed.

This website has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Firewalls are in place to prevent unauthorized access to our systems.
