Justin: Creating Excellence
Since 1975, Citizen Care has taken pride in ensuring that the people it supports have every opportunity to achieve their goals and dreams.
This success story is an example of how Citizen Care’s
Employment Services team was successful in helping Justin, a person who is supported through both Residential and Employment Services components of the agency. In September of 2024, Justin began working at Michael’s Craft Store at Settler’s Ridge in Robinson Township. With the support of his Job Coach Jean Mayes, Justin was able to learn his new job as a Store Associate and has since been doing an excellent job. Due to Justin’s hard work and dedication, he was recently the recipient of the Michael’s ACE award. ACE stands for Always Creating Excellence. This award is given to employees who show consistently high performance in attitude, teamwork and who create positive customer experiences. As a store associate, Justin’s job responsibilities include stocking the incoming arts and craft supplies on the shelves throughout the store.
According to store manager Holly Tranter, who presented Justin with this award: “Justin is a joy to work with. He has excelled since starting his job, knowing the locations of more than 100,000 products sold in the store.”
Tranter added: “Justin has also learned how to master using the Mini Mike, which is a handheld device used for stocking shelves and inventory control. Justin has fine-tuned his computer skills, which makes him a valuable employee. He brings a smile to everyone’s face as soon as he enters the building. Justin received this award through a unanimous vote by the Management Team at Michaels.”
When Justin was asked about his job, he said “I love to go to work because I like my co-
workers and getting a paycheck. I am very proud of myself!”
Citizen Care also salutes Jean Mayes, who always goes above and beyond in helping Justin learn all components of his job. She personally purchased the frame for Justin to display his great achievement to make his award even more special.
